Rules

The topics for Special Subject Colour Slides are set at the beginning of the year. For 2002 they are listed above. These photographs must be taken in Hong Kong or Macau. Photographs for all other categories (Open subject colour slides, colour and black and white print) have no restrictions. Competitions

There are a number of new members and visitors joining us making it opportune to review the competition procedures:

  1. Please make sure you bring your submissions already labeled and mounted to the club. We do not have labels nor other supplies available.
  2. The labels should have your name and the title of the photo.
  3. The slides should be marked with a blue dot on the bottom left hand corner. Don't worry about how it goes in the machine - the dot should be as you view the slide right way up.
  4. Prints should be at least 8x10 and mounted with a cardboard frame. Name and title should be on the back of the mount or the photo.
  5. If a photo is judged 14 or less you may resubmit it on another night. If it is 15 or above you may not use it again.
  6. Please arrive at the club meeting by 7:15 so that the photo can be logged in before the meeting starts at 7:30. Latecomers will find that their photos will not be accepted. We do this to ensure that the meeting is not delayed and everyone is able to get away at a reasonable hour.

Images are awarded up to 20 points by the judge based on whatever criteria the judge feels are important. These criteria depend on the judge and the subject matter. Scoring can be very subjective sometimes! Good judges also explain the reasoning behind their marking.
